Student council
At In Toto Ed, we believe in the transformative power of student leadership and the importance of amplifying student voices. Our student council is a vital part of our school community, serving as a bridge between the student body and school leadership.
The role of our student council is to listen to and represent the views of all students in each provision, acting as a voice for the In Toto Ed community. The council members are keen to make significant contributions to improve the curriculum, enrichment, and cultural capital for all students. They are given the opportunity to express themselves, represent the views of others, and feed back to their peers.
We believe in the importance of giving students opportunities to develop and demonstrate their leadership skills. Our ambition is to develop a range of personal, emotional, and social skills so our students are able to thrive as members of the community and succeed in the workplace. Such leadership opportunities provide students with the chance to develop decision-making skills, to understand the nature of commitment and responsibility, and raise their self-esteem and build their confidence.
Student council meetings take place at least once a term. Council members gather views and ideas from each year group, which help form the agenda. Minutes are taken during each meeting and then reviewed by the Head of Provision who responds and takes action on the points raised. The student council then feed back to the student body, ensuring that all voices are heard and that their ideas and concerns are addressed.
